NISSAN is finally showing us the R35 GTR Spec-V.
"V" stands for Victory, referring to the victorious racing conquest of the R32 GTR back in the early 90.
Since the introduction of the Skyline R32 GTR in 1989, all models up to the R34 GTR got "victory" evolutions. These V-Spec versions were very thought after as they offered hightech parts and technology upgrades against the basic GTR version.
The most notable V-Spec evolution on a GTR up to date, was the R34 GTR V-Spec II Nuer version. This car featured not only lighter components made of carbon and kevelar, but had also a very notable power upgrade of about 40HP to the basic (330HP) of the R34 GTR.
Now what do we get with the Spec-V badge? Or shall we ask further more, what do we get for 15,750,000 Yen? Well at first sight not more then we get with the Nismo Club Sport Package upgrade!
In fact the car doesn't get any power upgrades, nor does it get a new mission. The body of the car looks also very standard , only the enthusiasts can see the distinct club sport upgrades.
The car will be presented at the Tokyo Auto Salon 2009 and jmotors will provide exclusive coverage of this car, as well as insider infos.
The big question will be if this Spec-V evolution will be of any utility other then on a clean flat racing track. The Nuerburg Ring is located in germany and despite the fact that the standard R35 GTR is a record holder over there, the japanese Spec-V has to offer something for the japanese customers, who can only race this car on one of the japanese racing tracks. Therefore we think that the Spec-V will be the GTR for racing circuits like Suzuka or Fuji, with a more hard suspension and a reprogrammed AWD unit that will focus more on high speed cornering.
It has to prove that it is up to the it's monstrous price tag.
