MAZDA 's Roadster gets a fresh facial and is now joining the new design line of the 2009 RX8, Atenza and Axela. It was about time, and I really ask myself why Mazda didn't style the last generation Roadster (which started in 2005) with these new headlights from the beginning on?
The RX8 has set the new design path for Mazda over the last 5 years, but with the 2005 Roadster, Mazda had to make sure to keep the hardcore customers from the previous Roadsters, who loved the kind sleepy facial of the previous versions.

But time has come to move away from the kindly styled Roaster and open a path for future evolutions of this car. Especially in the EU many open-car customers prefer more sporty and aggressive facials and if Mazda wants to keep it's share of the roadster market, it has to send the original Roadster designs to the museum.

The rest of the car stays about the same, the front bumper is also styled like the RX8 now and the rear light clusters look also more dynamic. A revised 2.0 liter 4 cylinder engine, developing 170ps/19.3kg-m, brings the power down through a new 6speed MT (5 MT still available on base grade) or through the new 6A/T matic with up and down shift paddles on the steering.

The car comes in two grades: RS and S.
Also can you still choose between the soft or hard Top.
